Napclue writes about Napclue. This policy explains the data side of visiting napclue.com in plain terms.
Children
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 where local law applies that age. This is an adult-facing site, and any children’s data that reaches us in error is deleted.
Our Use of Your Data
The data supports four things — keeping napclue.com online and secure, understanding readership patterns in aggregate, sending email people have asked for, and underpinning any advertising on the site.
Cookie Use
Rather than duplicate it here, cookie detail lives in our Cookie Policy.
Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
Retention and Safeguards
Retention is purpose-bound: analytics records expire on their provider’s cycle, mailing-list entries persist only while you remain subscribed, and comment data stays as long as the comment does. We restrict who can reach the data, serve the site over encrypted connections, and apply safeguards proportionate to the (limited) sensitivity of what we hold — no system is completely secure.
Who Else Is Involved
This site may involve a hosting provider, an analytics provider, an email service (only if you subscribe), and advertising partners (only where advertising is served). Some process data strictly on our behalf; advertising and analytics vendors typically act as controllers in their own right.
Rights Under Applicable Law
You have rights over your data, and which ones depend on where you are. Common to most: find out what is held, get it corrected, get it deleted, get a copy, push back on a particular use, and stop your data being sold or shared for ads. GDPR applies in the UK and EU; CCPA/CPRA and its equivalents apply across a growing list of US states. Global Privacy Control is honoured. More at State Privacy Notice and Do Not Sell or Share.
What This Site Records
Two kinds of information reach us. The first is automatic: standard server and analytics data such as IP address, approximate location, device and browser details, and which pages of napclue.com were viewed. The second is whatever you deliberately hand over — a comment, a newsletter signup, or a message you send us.
Worth saying outright, since it is the question we get asked: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
If You Subscribe
The newsletter is confirmed opt-in: you enter an address, we email to check it was really you, and only then are you added. Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address. Leaving is immediate and permanent.
